About counselling

Counselling can be described as the means of responding to other in order to provide them with ways to explore, clarify and work towards living in a more gratifying and resourceful way.

The main aim of counselling is to give an opportunity for people to work towards living in a way they experience as more fulfilling, positive and effective.

People seek counselling for many reasons. Some people may be unhappy about the way their life is going; some may be experiencing difficulties at work, home or any other areas of their lives. Others may just learnt about a diagnosis of illness or disability relating to them or those to them.

People turn to counselling when the feel depressed, anxious, bullied, under stress or at the crossword in their lives. Some people have eating disorders, drug or alcohol problems.

There is other who has experienced childhood abuse, verbal, emotional, physical or sexual in their childhood or as adults. There are also people who have experienced trauma or bereavement.

Some people are unable to express their emotions, which create communication problems within a family, work or daily life. Other needs help in controlling their anger.

The duration of the counselling depends on the need and requirements of the client. Although most people can make good progress in between 8 to 15 weeks. Some clients do continue in counselling for some period of time for reasons of personal development and growth.
